Busy Band Week

Last week........

the boys and I sure were busy with marching band!

Monday was Parent's Night! This is where two of the local high school marching bands gather at one of the high schools and perform their shows they've been working on to the families! We were grateful for beautiful weather (as last year it just poured!)

Landon drooling over the drum line at family night

Tanner's Sax, Tanner's Hat and TANNER is in there somewhere!

The Contra Section!

Tuesday was Weber Review. This is where all the bands in the state perform at Weber State University. There are judges there that give their suggestions and comments for improvement. It's not a competition.

@ Weber Review: Lined up and ready to begin!

Tanner on the field.....center stage!

Wednesday was Sky View Homecoming Parade. The boys marched.

Friday was Sky View Homecoming Football game. The boys were involved with the pep-band that night. The football team did win!

Saturday was BBI (Bridgerland Band Invitational) at Utah State University. This was their first competition. Competition days are long days! Sky View did wonderful, placing 3rd in their division. Again we were grateful for beautiful weather (as last year it was freezing rain!).

After their performance -- Josh surrounded by girls....hummmmm. Perhaps it's the barret?

.......or the hair???

...it's gotta be the eyes!!!! =)

Tanner was not cooperating with the pictures, however!!

Here's the SHOW.

They really looked great! Lot's of hard work...and they will only get better as the season goes on.... It's a bit long, but I tried to make it interesting!! If you want to watch something really cool they do this reverse tri-angle (running with instruments) at about the 7 minute 50 second mark!

It was sure difficult to balance home, work, homework, church, "the social life" and family this past week! However, we made it through one day at a time!

Primary Progam TODAY

Today is our ward's Primary Program.

We designed our own cover for the program...didn't it turn out great?

This is my 7th program since I've been in the Primary Presidency. It always amazes me how it comes together even though we don't have every child at every practice and it ALWAYS ends on time.

Do you forsee an 8th program in my future?

I wonder.......

Josh & Kayla

Awwwwwwww.......

Don't they look so cute?

Josh and Kayla ..... going to homecoming tonight!

Here is the group they went with. There was so much cute-ness in the room I could hardly contain myself.

Sam*Carrie, Kayla*Josh, Cory's date*Cory, Chris*Chris's date

The boys are all buddies from marching band.

Josh looked so handsome in his suit....we had to take a few more pictures.

I totally saw my little three year old in that face tonight. A little hard to hold back the mother emotion actually.

I had so much fun helping him get ready...I'm sure I was driving him nuts......But guaranteed his hair looked great, his suit was stylin' and he smelled yummy! =)

5K

Yes, I did it.

a 5k

Did I train...nope.

Did it hurt...yep!

Did I have fun? Yes, surprisingly.

It made me want to get back into running, so I could run a race like that and it would actually be enjoyable. I have to admit I wasn't really looking forward to doing it.

What made it fun was that all my sisters (5 of us) ran/walked the race together. Even Landon and Justin (nephew) joined in the fun.

Landon smoked us all. =) Way to go Landon!

The same day as our 5K, was also the Top of Utah Marathon (which believe it or not I ran in 2001). I'm actually contemplating doing it again next year. Matt and I have been talking about it....

Matt helped out at an aid-station at mile 13. You can read his blog about it here: http://mattsbigadventure.blogspot.com/2008/09/top-of-utah-marathon-mile-13.html

Court of Honor

Mark your Calendar!

Josh and Tanner's Eagle Court of Honor will be held on October 19th...not sure of the time yet, but probably some time inbetween 5-7pm. We are way excited and ever so proud of the boys. All family and friends are invited.

Landon has already been calling around trying to find a project! He won't be far behind.

DATE UPDATE: Josh's date said yes to Homecoming. Pretty exciting stuff!! eh?

Pictures are up!

Finally......

I found some time last night (with a small interruption from Josh needing help in asking a girl to Homecoming.....I'll let you know the outcome. I don't know who had more fun...me or him? ha ha) to put the pictures in frames that Annie took of the boys a couple of weeks ago!

So proud of myself as every single frame came from the D.I. and one is a small window that I painted, which I've had in storage for a loooong lonnnng time.

I thought it turned out really fun....and I also have some extra holes in the wall, because I changed my mind too much. =)

Acheiving Eagle Scout

A BIG HUGE Congratulations to Tanner!!

TODAY he officially became an Eagle Scout.

We helped drill him on the Scout oath, law, motto and slogan for the better part of Sunday afternoon.

The Scout Motto is "Be Prepared"..... and Tanner was prepared!

Hard to believe our sweet baby faced Tanner.....

....is growing up to be such a fine handsome young man! (sure I'm partial and I admit it!)

Wonderful Job Tanner-man. We love you and are so proud of you!!!
