So sweet......
It's been a week.......
I have a few blog stories to share, but I usually like to put picture with them, so it's not so boring to read. So I was doing some behind the scenes prep work....and was planning on posting when I got some time. So other stories are in the works.
So in the mean time, to satisfy the "family boss cows" (you know who you are) I'll just post what's been going on in the past few days.....
Saturday, April 12th: I attended the baptism of two of my Primary children. Landon came with me. Then we went grocery shopping, not at Walmart. I avoid Walmart on Saturdays! I'm really not liking going grocery shopping lately...I'm pretty sure it's because I feel like I spend a fortune at the store. It really bites! Can someone tell the gas people that we're really struggling here!!!! hellooooo??? Enough already.
Saturday night we watched Bourne Supremacy. We've been on a "Bourne" movie kick watching the series. We have Bourne Ultimatum waiting, but can't seem to find a time when we are all together lately! Hopefully this weekend.
Sunday, April 13th: Church was great! I had sharing time and put together a time line of President Monson. It was perfect time to learn about him as General Conference was the prior weekend. That afternoon/evening we went to our good friends, The Deckers, to visit and have dinner. It was great to see them and visit. We played a dice game called "Olaley." They recently had a new addition to their family, a little boy named Jack. It was like old times to see them again. We enjoy their company so much and miss them terribly as our neighbors.
Monday, April 14th: I took the day off of work as it was spring break for my boys. We also planned a day at my sister, Annie's house, to plan the upcoming Cuzin's Kamp! The parents are involved this year. It's quite an ordeal to get the family together anymore with work schedules and family commitments! However, we managed and enjoyed the day planning, visiting and hugging on my newest niece, Charlee. My days off go by so fast.............
We returned home in time to get Josh to and from his trombone lessons. Too tired to figure out what to make for dinner, so we ordered pizza. Matt was in a distance mountain trying to find some desperate "air time". Crazy thing was - that we were able to watch him launch from our back yard with some help from a pair of binoculars! So we enjoyed pizza and watched Matt fly high above the mountains in our back yard! How cool is that? Here's a link to his flight log: http://mattsbigadventure.blogspot.com/2008/04/air-over-cedar.html
Tuesday, April 15th: Off to work! It was a busy day as I went to a motivating seminar called "Maximizing People's Potential" that was offered during the lunch hour. It was pretty entertaining as the gentleman shared humorous stories. I then met with the Dean's office to plan our budget for the 08/09 academic year. Wow...didn't 2008 just begin? That took up the rest of my work day and then I was off to home to be the taxi driver for the rest of the afternoon. Both Tanner and Josh had piano lessons. Landon had a soccer game....and then the boys went off to Mutual, while I stayed home and enjoyed watching American Idol. =) Gooooo David A! Spent the rest of the evening putting together the schedule for Cuzin's Kamp. OH...and happy (or sad) Tax day and Darin's b-day!
Wednesday, April 16th: Back to work! It was another busy day, but mostly filled with organizing payroll for our upcoming Lyric Repertory season. Takes a lot behind the scenes to get it all straightened out. We are also bringing in out-of-state candidates for interviews for a Movement/Dance type position at the Theatre. After work I had a visiting teaching appointment with a sweet young sister, who is preparing for a mission. We always enjoy our visits with her. Once at home, the dreaded thought...."what's for dinner?" always seems to haunt me. So I managed to throw together a bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup. It was a good choice as Josh seems to be a little under the weather. Matt was off to his Wednesday night weekly 7pm meeting and I was off to a "kick-off" marching band meeting for 08/09 season. I had all three boys with me. Josh drove us...and we arrived safely. He is getting better at this driving thing or I'm getting more tough - one of the two! This year I will be heavily involved with the boys marching band as it will be good preparation as I take the "helm" as Band Mom for 09/10 season. Tanner has finally agreed to give marching band a try this year. I was happy to hear it. =) I will be heading up the garage sale fundraiser for the band in June. Start saving your stuff --- family!! We've got two boys to pay fees for this year! We got home kinda late and I missed who was kicked off American Idol so I immediately went to the Internet to find out! Didn't take long to find it! Felt good about the choice and off to bed.
THAT brings us to today! April 17, 2008 -Thursday. Right now...I'm just listening to the Carpenters and loving the whole world (except the price of gas). What is it about Carpenter music that makes you love everyone? Maybe I should send a CD to the gas people.
This blog entry really feels like a journal entry.

My Jazz Boy!
About three weeks ago, Josh started trombone lessons with a professor from the local University. After his second lesson he was invited to participate in the "All Northern Jazz Band," which is a combination of musicians from local high schools. They performed last night with none other than "Chris Vadala". Ok Ok...I admit it, I hadn't a clue who he was until last night, but once he started playing, I recognized his songs from the radio and ones that my Dad listened too. What a great opportunity for these aspiring musicians to learn from such a talented artist! Mr. Vadala hit notes that we didn't think existed!
Here is a little clip of Mr. Vadala with some amazing high notes!
Josh's trombone instructor in action! He was thoroughly entertaining. You couldn't watch without smiling. Just so happens that the drummer in the blue shirt is Landon's drum teacher. We're keeping it all in the family. =)

Tanner Saxophone Man!
These are a couple of pictures that I took before the concert started and as they were warming up. I was really amazed with our camera as I was up in the bleachers and zoomed in to take these pictures. We never were able to take pictures of Josh at prior concerts because our old camera just didn't have the power!
Here are a few little movies that I took as well. Kinda fun to actually see Tanner in action! I just love that I can share this with my family and friends -- when you can't be here. It's almost like a front row seat. =)
The gentleman in the red shirt that is playing the trombone behind Tanner is Mr. Monday. He is the one that taught Joshua how to play the trombone. The man conducting is Mr. Wheeler and he is Tanner's teacher (but you won't see him). I love watching all the youth heads bouncing as they count along with their tapping toes to the beat.
Doesn't Tanner look great in his suit? If you watch closely you can see Tanner's smooth Jazz hands in action!
Thanks for coming to the band concert! =)

Dentists, Orthodontists, Doctors......oh my!

I wonder if our family has broken the record for the most visits to a medical professional in the past 72 hours?
- Matt needed some dental work on Friday. check!
- Landon needed one cavity filled on Monday. check! (tears included)
- Both Tanner and Landon paid a visit to the Orthodontist on Monday. Tanner's braces tightened and new bands. Landon check up. check!
- Landon had a Dr. appointment Tuesday, which also included a finger prick, and 4 immunization shots! check! (tears included, glad that's done!)
Since Friday, Matt has been suffering from tooth pain that just wouldn't go away. Matt tried all weekend to be manly and endure the pain, even stating to me on Monday morning that he was feeling better.
However, when I arrived home Monday after work, I took one look at Matt and knew right away that he was doing worse. He tried to smile it off......but, no fooling the wife at this point.
Fortunately for me, I was anticipating that his pain was worsening and since I was already at the Dentist's office that morning with Landon, ask him what needed to happen next with Matt. This resulted in a referral from the dentist office to an Endodontist (root canal specialist).

Doesn't the word root canal just make your hairs stand on end?
Matt called to make an appointment and the soonest they could get him in was Thursday! He was in extreme pain and ask me if it was ok to have pain medication that started with the "L" word. My heart just sunk! Honestly, I just couldn't do it!!!! Emotions ran high during the next few minutes. I thought when this day came I would be ready to deal with this issue, but it surprised me with the way that I felt. I just don't even want that substance in Matt's body! It scares me. I asked Matt if he would give me about 10 minutes and I would call him back.
I decided to take matters into my own hands, calling the dentist office. No answer, they have the day off. I even called the Dentist home (as he knows the circumstances), no answer.
I started to search in the phone book for the Endodontist. I didn't have his name as Matt had left the referral slip at home. I found one that looked familiar and called. I had guessed right! I worked my wife charm and explained the circumstances why we could not wait an additional two days. The lady at the office told me should would call me back in 10 minutes. It was less than that. She had managed to get Matt an appointment at 3:30 TODAY! I was overwhelmed with gratitude. I don't know if Matt is as grateful, maybe he is? I think he is. I know he's wondering how in the world did you get me that appointment? It's called "Tell it like it is" mixed in with a little wife magic.

He is home resting and seems to exhibiting signs of a swollen cheek and a slight lisp. =) We'll take it!
Let's not EVEN think of the medical bills right now........mmmmkay!?????
